In Winter,here a Spring weather , we celebrate the Carnival,a feast full of colour and joy where disguises and masks tranform people for hours having fun all around the town.
In Spring we celebrate Easter ( Holy Week).The Passion of Christ is represented by important processions with different Easter floats and with beautiful performances in the streets.

Easter Monday and Saint Vicent Ferrer Day ( in Valencia Region is celebrated the second Easter Monday) citizens from Guardamar and neighbours from other cities celebrate this day in the Alfonso XIII Park.They spend all day having lunch and playing games.People from Guardamar stay most of all in a spot called Canal del Tio Batiste (Batiste Uncle Channel).Our families gather themselves to stay together fo having “la Mona de Pascua” ( Easter Cake),having fun ,playing games and singing all along.

With the Summer equinox (21st June) comes “ la Plantà de la Foguera”.It is a card and wood monument where local and world wide events along the year are exposed and criticised.In San Juan´s vesper takes place a fire magical rite on the beach,and the following night the Foguera ( the card and wood monument) is burnt,which is there a few days before.

On the second fortnight of July in Saint Jaume´s Honour (25th July) the Moorish and Christian Feasts take place ,which are very celebrated by people.The celebration starts with the performance of “L´Encantà” that brings to our minds ancient legends in this Mediterranean spot next to the Segura river.

From that day and on the Moorish and Christian groups walk all along the streets with their troops attacking the castle with the gunpowder´s din and smell atmosphere .

In September the Feasts of the Virgin of Fatima take place in the El Campo district.

 

 

On October 7th La Mare de Déu Feast is celebrated ( Our Holy Mother of the Rosary ) ,who is the town´s Patron Saint.All the Sunday dawns in October the group called “ auroros” sing the Rosary in the streets.

At Christmas there are some events in the streets directed to children and some performances in the Casa de Cultura ( House of Culture ).

Christmas days start with the coming of the Menjabollos Giant (Cake eater Giant )to town,who is a mythological character in town.From his hut in the pine trees he comes to pay visits to children. Christmas holidays finisih with the Three Wise Men Day,preceded by their procession the previous night.
