Economic Promotion and Markets

The Council Department of Economic Promotion and Markets  is divided into various sections of work with the ultimate aim of developing the economic activity of the town, either by use of its own resources or by agreements reached with other organisations which improve local area development for the people of Guardamar.

  • The Local Area Development Agency has the ultimate aim of using and promoting  local resources, developing local employment opportunities and activities by offering advice, training activities and access to the labour market initiatives. The Employment Agency, managed by the Local Development Agency has, therefore, for some time, been an important catalyst in creating a dynamic workforce in the town.
  • The AFIC Agency in Guardamar was set up by means of a agreement with the Valencian Regional Government and is used by the Council to promote and develop economic activities within the town. The local Chamber of Commerce, by means of an agreement also provides the Council with an additional tool to support local businesses as well as disseminating information and services offered by Chambers of Commerce and  
  • Participation in the Consortium for the Economic Development of the Vega Baja  (CONVEGA) allows the Council to work on collaborative projects alongside other municipalities in the district, which was what the Consortium was set up to do.


The management of the services and resources mentioned above is the responsibility of the staff of the Employment section , the Local Development Agency and the AFIC Manager.

All of these services available to members of the public in Guardamar are located as follows:

  • Employment Agency/Job Centre, lower floor of the Town Hall (street level) next to the Citizens' Advice Bureau or Council "One Stop Shop" and is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m.-  2 p.m.
  • All other services are located on the third floor of  Guardamar's Town Hall from Monday to Friday  - 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
