Christmas in Guardamar is celebrated in a magical and special way with the warmth of and spectacle of tradition.
During the month of December, Guardamar hosts a number of activities aimed at both young and old, beginning with the Christmas opening speech and the formal inauguration of the town's Nativity Crib. A number of sporting events are also celebrated with the children at heart and there are games, street entertainment and magic shows.
Without doubt, however, one of the highlights for the town's children is the arrival of the giant mythical character, Menjabollos. He parades through the town on the day 23 of December with the children, accompanied by traditional dances and music from the dolçaina and the tabalet (kind of typical and traditional instruments). We say "goodbye" to the old year with a huge party in the town's Plaça of the Constitució. On the 5 January, in the afternoon, we celebrate the Parade of the 3 Kings which includes characters from the world of children's books and films.
