Ayuntamiento de Guardamar

Is the most popular party of the town and is celebrated in honour to Sant Jaume. During the second fortnight of July the people throw to the street massively and remember with a fantastic and legendaries overtones the historical passage of the Christian Reconquest.  

Of the numerous acts that celebrate it must be highlighted the opening speech of the parties and the representation of the legend of l’Encantà, act in which is proclaimed and crowned the Dama (lady) of Guardamar, and in which it stages the ancient history of a young that, after having suffered a spell, only can be free by the arms of a brave warrior that before will have to win her in a battle against  evil strengths.  

During the parties we can dance in the Barraca Popular and in the cuartelillos (Christian booths) and kábilas (moor booths) of the different krewes. With the dreaded Moorish disembarkation in the beaches of Guardamar arrive the embassies and the parades of the sides Moorish and Christian, there is no doubt, these are the most spectacular moments of the party, in which the history of the Catalan Reconquest Catalan revives. The fire (with the correfoc, the aquatic castles, the mascletà (an explosive display of the concussive effects of co-ordinated firecracker and fireworks barrages), etc.) and the music are the protagonists of this party.
