Guardamar has a regular weekly markets on Wednesdays. The Wednesday market is situated in the centre of town, near the Church area. Parking facilities for the Wednesday market are located in the underground car park in the town square.

Fish (weather permitting) is also auctioned at the ‘lonja’ and fish exchange auction house at the fish quay on the Marina. The auctions begin at 10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and continue until the rest of the day’s catch has been sold. Another local custom worth mentioning here is the ‘fisherwomen and sarandas’. These ladies appear in the town’s streets after 10 a.m. in the morning with their wheelbarrows and announce the day’s fresh fish produce which is laid out on a large round basket – type tray called a ‘saranda’.
