One of the pleasures
that you can enjoy in Guardamar will be the spear time.The
days go by slowly,no rush and you will be able of taking
advantage of the time of every day. |

For
killing time the offer of this town is very atractive.For
instance,it is really interesting to pay a visit to
the different archeological
deposits that leave signs of a history
that dates more than two milleniums ago.Thanks to the
meeting of the Segura and the Mediterranean, along the
centuries many different cultures have been able to
settle here.Iberians,Phoenicians,Greeks,Romans and Arabs
found here a settlement.

Between this
deposits
we shall highlight the Iberian deposit from Cabezo
Lucero.The Lady of Guardamar was found there in
IV BC.Also the set of mosques that build the “Rabita
Califal” ,which is a religious-militar area
from the Muslim age.It is located on a hill next
to the mouth of the Segura. |

It is the oldest “Rabita”
in Spain ( Centuries IX-X) and the only one in Valencia
Region.Very close from it you can find the deposit called
“La Fonteta”.It used to be a fortified port
town that kept relations with Ibiza and others places
from the Western Mediterranean ( VIII- VII BC. )
They are also of high interest the
Iberian town and the Necro-Polis from Cabezo Lucero,where
many pottery , glass, metal and stone pieces have been
found there,as the Lady of Guardamar.Many of these pices
can be seen in the Archeological
–Etnographic Museum,which is located in the “
Casa de Cultura”.
The route through Guardamar´s
History can finish with the visit to the castle.It
is from Medieval Ages and located over a hill that controls
the mouth of the Segura,From there you can see a beautiful
coast ,vegetable garden,town and the Mediterranean landscapes.
